Care Home Fined

A care home in Oxford has been fined £100,000 and ordered to pay £45,000 costs after a disabled teenager was lowered into a bath of scalding water and died from her injuries.
Yelena Hasselberg-Langley, 18, who had cerebral palsy and epilepsy suffered 25% burns when she was lowered into the excessively hot bath. She died 4 days later as a consequence of multiple organ failure. The Health and Safety Executive had brought the Prosecution against the care home.
