Road Safety Week 2013 Launched
Road Safety Week 2013 has been launched with an appeal to educators, youth workers and the police to get involved. The event itself will run from 18th-24th November 2013.
The charity co-ordinating the campaign have asked those with responsibility for education to register now via the website at www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk for a free email action pack to help promote life-saving awareness as part of the campaign.
Road Safety Week involves thousands of schools, organisations and communities running local activities including holding road safety assemblies and workshops, to campaigns for local drivers to slow down. Last year more than 6,000 educators took part in the initiative and its hoped that this year even more will do so.
The main theme of this year’s Road Safety Week is ‘tune in’ to road safety, with the focus of the literature on urging everyone to stay alert and avoid distractions when using roads.
The campaign is seen as an ideal opportunity for schools to team up with local partners like the local authority’s road safety team, the fire service and police force, to help raise awareness among youngsters, parents and drivers.
